Singapore and Rwanda Sign Agreement for Avoidance of Double Taxation

26 Aug 2014

1. Singapore and Rwanda signed an Agreement for the Avoidance of Double Taxation (DTA) on 26 August 2014. The signing took place in Singapore between Mr K Shanmugam, the Singapore Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Honourable Louise Mushikiwabo, the Rwanda Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

2. The DTA will clarify the taxing rights of both countries on all forms of income flows arising from cross-border business activities, and minimise the double taxation of such income. By providing greater tax certainty to businesses and individuals, the DTA is expected to boost trade and investment flows between the two countries.

3. The full text of the DTA is available on the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore website. The DTA will enter into force after its ratification by both countries.
