Summary of Responses to Public Consultation on the Draft Customs (Amendment) Bill 2024
25 Oct 2024 The Ministry of Finance (MOF) and Singapore Customs (Customs) invited the public to provide feedback on the proposed legislative amendments under the Customs (Amendment) Bill from 13 September 2024 to 4 October 2024. The draft Bill proposed legislative amendments to (i) improve the operational effectiveness of Customs’ regulatory and enforcement operations; (ii) introduce new offence provisions; and (iii) increase the maximum penalties for specified offences for greater deterrent effect.
2. The feedback received was generally supportive of the proposed legislative amendments. The response from MOF and Customs to the key feedback is in Annex A.
3. The Customs (Amendment) Bill will be presented to Parliament in November 2024.
