Property Tax Collected from Owner-Occupied and Non-Owner Occupied HDB Flats Since 2000

30 Nov 2022

Parliamentary Question by Mr Leong Mun Wai:

To ask the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance in each year since 2000, what percentage of the total property tax is collected from (i) owner-occupied HDB flats and (ii) non-owner-occupied HDB flats respectively.

Parliamentary Reply by Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister for Finance Mr Lawrence Wong:

The requested information spans over two decades, and we are unable to provide such a long time series of data. For the period from 2018 to 2022, owner-occupied and non-owner-occupied HDB flats contributed an average of 1.3% and 1.4% of the total property tax (PT) assessed[1] each year respectively.

[1] Total PT assessed refers to the PT assessed from all residential and non-residential properties, and it does not take into consideration any PT rebates or exemption.
