Cases of Fraud in Productivity and Innovation Credit Scheme

Parliamentary Question by Ms Sylvia Lim:

To ask the Minister for Finance (a) how many cases has IRAS investigated for fraud under the Productivity and Innovation Credit (PIC) scheme since the inception of the scheme; (b) how many court convictions for PIC fraud have been obtained and what are grant amounts involved in these cases; (c) how many cases of suspected PIC fraud are pending before the courts; and (d) how many and in what percentage of cases in (a), (b) and (c) are consultants the subject of proceedings.

As at 31 December 2015, IRAS investigated 488 cases for fraud under the PIC scheme. To date, 8 cases, involving a total of $213,000 of cash payouts, have been prosecuted. 3 cases are pending trial. The 11 court cases do not involve consultants.
