Overseas S'poreans entitled to $200

17 Apr 2006

We refer to the letter on the Progress Package by Mr Ho Choy Fong "Should Singaporeans overseas get payout?" (April 12).

The Progress Package shares part of the Government's budget surpluses with all Singapore citizens, including Singapore citizens who are working or studying overseas. Like all other Singaporeans, overseas Singaporeans will not receive the Progress Package automatically but they have to sign up for it.

The amount they receive will depend on the annual value of their homes. If they have an overseas residential address, they will be deemed to be living in a home with an annual value of more than $10,000 and they will receive $200, the lowest amount of growth dividends.
