Government To Freeze Fee Increases For One Year From Time Of GST Increase
30 Nov 2006Minister for Education and Second Minister for Finance, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, announced that the Government will put a freeze on all Government fee increases for one year after the implementation of the GST increase.
2. The Government will also absorb fully, on a permanent basis, the GST for school fees[1] and subsidised healthcare services[2], as is currently the case.
3. This was announced by Minister Tharman during a TV forum recording for "A Future Singapore - A Conversation with Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam". The TV forum will be broadcast on Channel NewsAsia at 7.30 p.m. on 30 November 2006.
