Reviewing CDC Vouchers to Support Larger Households Based on Household Size

07 Feb 2024

Parliamentary Question by Mr Yip Hon Weng:

To ask the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance whether the Ministry will review the Community Development Council Vouchers scheme to better support larger households by adjusting voucher allocations based on household size.

Parliamentary Reply by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Mr Lawrence Wong:

The Government’s support for households should be viewed holistically across multiple schemes, which work together to provide help where it is most needed.

The Community Development Council (CDC) Vouchers scheme is a simple, broad-based scheme designed to help all Singaporean households cope with daily expenses and rising cost of living.

We have other schemes that provide help on an individual basis, and would therefore ensure more support for larger households. For example, every adult Singaporean received cash payments of up to $800 in December 2023. This month, eligible Singaporean seniors will receive up to $300 in Seniors’ Bonus, while seniors and children will receive $150 in their MediSave.

The Government will continue to regularly review how our support measures can better support Singaporeans, including those from larger households.
