Parliamentary Question (by Mr Hri Kumar Nair, MP for Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC):
To ask the Minister for Finance how much tax revenue does the Government receive annually in respect of tobacco products in the last three years.
Reply by Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam:
The Government collected $621 million of excise duty on tobacco products in FY2006, $700 million in FY2007, and $794 million in FY2008. From April to November this financial year, $587 million of tobacco duty has been collected.
