Second Minister for Finance, Minister Tharman attending The WB/IMF Meetings & Asean Finance Ministers Investors Seminar (20-23 October)

Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Minister for Education and Second Minister for Finance, will attend the 2007 Annual Meetings of the Board of Governors of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, from 20-22 October, Washington DC. The Annual Meetings will discuss a range of issues including international financial stability and the governance of the IMF. Minister Tharman will represent the Southeast Asian group of member countries at the IMFC [International Monetary and Financial Committee] Meeting on 20 October.

After the Annual Meetings, Minister Tharman will participate in the 4th ASEAN Finance Ministers Investor Seminar, from 22-23 October in New York. The Investor Seminar is an ongoing initiative first launched by the ASEAN Finance Ministers in 2004 to raise investor awareness towards ASEAN and its individual member countries.

Minister Tharman will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Finance and the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
