Parliamentary Question by Mr Ang Wei Neng:
To ask the Prime Minister and Minister for Finance given the recent hike in oil prices, higher core inflation, and sharp rise in retrenchment figures in the second quarter of 2026, whether the Government would consider (i) increasing the CDC voucher payout in January 2027 (ii) bringing forward the $300 CDC voucher meant to be distributed in January 2027 or (iii) providing additional help for lower-income households.
Parliamentary Reply by Second Minister for Finance, Mr Jeffrey Siow:
To help households and businesses manage cost pressures due to the Middle East conflict, the Government introduced a $1 billion support package in April 2026, and a second $900 million package in July 2026. These included bringing forward the distribution of the $500 in CDC Vouchers from the original distribution date in January 2027 to June 2026, and providing an additional $300 in CDC Vouchers to be distributed in January 2027. As of end-September 2026, around one-third of the June 2026 tranche has not yet been spent.
In addition to CDC Vouchers, Singaporeans have received, and will continue to receive, support over the coming months, with targeted help provided to those with greater needs. This includes the Enhanced Cost-of-Living Special Payment of $400 to $600 to eligible Singaporeans in September 2026, additional U-Save rebates in October 2026 and January 2027 for eligible HDB households, and Assurance Package Cash in December 2026. Lower-income households can also receive help through the enhanced ComCare Interim Assistance scheme.
The Government will continue to monitor the situation and stands ready to provide further support when needed.
