More that 780,000 HDB Households to receive $60 million of Utility Rebates in July 2009

More than 780,000 HDB households will receive $60 million of utility rebates in July 2009. This is the second tranche of Utilities Save (U-Save) rebates for 2009. Eligible HDB households have received the first payout in January 2009. In total, $125 million worth of U-Save rebates will be given out in 2009.
2. 1-room and 2-room households will get $100 worth of U-Save rebates, which can offset as much as 15% of their annual utility bills. 4-room households will receive $85 worth of U-Save rebates, which can offset as much as 5% of their annual utility bills.
3. U-Save rebates will be used to offset utility charges directly. The amount of U-Save rebates will be reflected in the utility bills for July 2009 of all eligible households. For more information on U-Save rebates, the public can call SP Services at 1800-2222-333.
4. The U-Save rebates are part of the $4 billion GST Offset Package announced in Budget 2007 to help Singaporeans, especially low and middle-income households, cope with the GST increase. The U-Save rebates will cost the Government approximately $620 million over 5 years (FY2007-FY2011). The full disbursement schedule for the five year package can be found in Annex A (98 KB).
