MOF Invites Views and Suggestions for Budget 2023

The Ministry of Finance (MOF) invites Singaporeans to share their views and hopes for the upcoming Budget 2023, which is scheduled to be presented in February 2023. Individuals, organisations, and businesses can do so from today until 13 Jan 2023.

2. Information on Singapore’s national Budget process and Budget 2023 measures can be found on MOF’s Budget website at www.singaporebudget.gov.sg.

3. Singaporeans can provide their suggestions for the coming Budget through several channels over a six-week period, on themes such as navigating a volatile and complex world, strengthening our social compact, and building a resilient nation. The topics can be found in Annex A.

4. REACH will be conducting an e-Listening Point (online survey) and a physical Listening Point. People’s Association (PA) and its grassroots organisations will also reach out to Singaporeans via virtual Ask Kopi Kakis #shareyourviews engagement platforms to seek their views and suggestions for Budget 2023. Navigating a Volatile and Complex World Over the past two years, Singapore rallied as a nation to save lives and livelihoods. We are stepping out from the COVID-19 pandemic with new challenges in a more volatile and complex world –higher inflation, slowing growth, more frequent economic disruption, and greater geopolitical tensions. We need to tackle these challenges and be ready to seize new opportunities. 1. What are the challenges and opportunities for families/households, workers, and businesses in this more volatile and complex world? 2. What more can be done to support these groups to identify and seize new opportunities, even amidst greater uncertainties and volatility?
Strengthening our Social Compact We must continue to strengthen our social compact, where every person feels valued and supported through all seasons and stages of life. We want to partner Singaporeans to care for one another as we prepare for the challenges ahead. 1. What actions can we take as individuals and as a community, together with the Government, to build a fairer and more inclusive home? 2. What are some groups that might need more support, and what are their concerns? How can the Government better partner the community to address these concerns?
Building a Resilient Nation We experienced disruptions in essential supplies at the height of the pandemic, and had to make the necessary adjustments. When the Ukraine war broke out, we moved quickly to secure our energy needs. When our chicken supplies were disrupted, we brought in new sources of chicken from other countries. We need to build greater resilience so that Singapore can withstand and absorb external shocks and overcome disruptions. 1. How can individuals, households, and businesses contribute to a more resilient Singapore? 2. How can the Government support these groups in their efforts?
