Minister Heng Swee Keat in China for AIIB Opening Ceremony and Inaugural Board of Governors Meeting

Minister for Finance, Heng Swee Keat, will be in Beijing, China, from 16 to 17 January 2016 to attend the Opening Ceremony of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and its inaugural Board of Governors’ Meeting.

2. Minister Heng is Singapore’s Governor at the AIIB. At the Board of Governors’ Meeting, the Governors are expected to adopt the inaugural resolutions of the AIIB at the first session and deliver statements at the second session.

3. At the Opening Ceremony of the AIIB, Governors will witness the signing of the Headquarters Agreement between the Chinese Government and the AIIB, as well as an MOU between the Beijing Municipal Government and the AIIB.

4. Minister Heng will be accompanied on his trip by officials from the Ministry of Finance.

5. Singapore welcomes the establishment of the AIIB, which will promote greater infrastructure investments in the region. Singapore is a founding member of the AIIB.
