Minister for Finance to attend 12th ASEAN+3 Finance Ministers' Meeting and 42nd Asian Development Bank Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors, 2-4 May 2009, Indonesia

Minister for Finance Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam will be in Indonesia from 2-4 May to participate in the ASEAN+3 Finance Ministers' Meeting and an ASEAN Investor Seminar, both organized in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Board of Governors from 2-4 May 2009.

2 The Finance Ministers from ASEAN, China, Japan and Korea will at their Meeting be discussing ways to further regional finance cooperation in the context of the global economic crisis. The ASEAN Investor Seminar will share with institutional investors the ASEAN governments' policy responses, so as to provide clarity and promote investor interest in the region over the medium term.

3 The 42nd Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the ADB will discuss measures to bolster the capital of the ADB and strengthen its capacity to help Asian economies deal with the crisis.

4 Minister Tharman will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Finance and the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
