Question No. 922 (by Dr Loo Choon Yong, Nominated Member):
To ask the Minister for Finance whether any Government linked company or agency has directly or indirectly invested in the business of Las Vegas Sands, its subsidiaries, associated companies or associated entities.
Reply by Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam:
The Government does not disclose specific investments made by its agencies. GIC and Temasek make their own investment decisions on a purely commercial basis. Temasek however makes it a practice to disclose all investments of significance, and its listed subsidiaries are required to do so by regulations.
If the Member is asking if the Government has directed or suggested to any of its agencies or companies linked to it that they should invest in Las Vegas Sands or its subsidiaries and associated entities, the answer is a categorical no.
