Finance Minister to attend the 8th ASEM Finance Ministers' Meeting in Korea

1. Singapore's Minister for Finance Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam will be visiting Korea on 15-17 June. He will attend the 8th Asia-Europe (ASEM) Finance Ministers' Meeting. Besides the ASEM meeting, he will be meeting senior Korean officials involved in overseeing the financial markets.
2. The ASEM Finance Ministers will discuss the global and regional economic and financial situation, as well as appropriate policy responses. The ministers will also discuss lessons arising from economic and financial integration in Europe and their implications for Asia. The meeting will discuss issues relating to infrastructure finance, micro-finance and market-oriented approaches to cope with climate change.
3. Mr Tharman will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Finance.
