Parliamentary Question by Ms Elysa Chen:
To ask the Prime Minister and Minister for Finance (a) what thresholds in fuel and electricity prices will trigger a third package of support measures for households and small businesses; and (b) whether these thresholds will be published in advance.
Parliamentary Reply by Second Minister for Finance, Mr Jeffrey Siow:
The Government had announced support packages in April and July to cushion households and businesses from higher energy prices. We do not used fixed fuel or electricity price thresholds to determine when further support should be provided. Hence, there are no fixed thresholds to publish in advance. At this juncture, there are measures from Budget 2026 and the July support package that are still being rolled out. We will monitor the impact of these measures, as well as the overall economic situation, before deciding whether further support is warranted before the Budget next year.
