Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, will be visiting San Francisco from 4 to 7 October 2014. DPM Tharman will be meeting California state leaders and visiting selected educational institutions to study different and new models of continuous education, in his capacity as Chairman of the SkillsFuture Council. He will also meet Singaporean entrepreneurs, professionals and students based in the Bay area. DPM Tharman will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Manpower, the Singapore Workforce Development Agency and Ministry of Finance.

2. DPM Tharman will subsequent travel to Washington, D.C. from 8 to 12 October 2014 to chair the meetings of the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC), and attend related meetings. The IMFC meetings will discuss actions to ensure a more robust and durable global recovery and foster economic resilience. DPM Tharman will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Finance and the Monetary Authority of Singapore in Washington.
