Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Tharman Shanmugaratnam to visit Tokyo for IMF/World Bank Meetings

1. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, will be in Tokyo, Japan from 11 to 14 October 2012. He will chair the meetings of the International Monetary and Financial Committee on 12-13 October, held in conjunction with the IMF/World Bank Annual Meetings. The IMFC meetings will discuss current challenges facing the global economy, and the steps needed to restore sustained growth. They will also discuss recent IMF initiatives in surveillance, financing for low-income countries, as well as governance reforms in the IMF.
2. DPM Tharman will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Finance and Monetary Authority of Singapore.
