Parliamentary Question by Mr Chua Kheng Wee Louis:
To ask the Prime Minister and Minister for Finance in each of the last five years, what are the (i) number of individuals who have claimed course fees relief (ii) the average course fees relief granted per individual per year (iii) total amount of course fees relief granted and (iv) total amount of individual income tax foregone from course fees relief.
Parliamentary Reply by Senior Minister of State for Finance, Mr Jeffrey Siow:
The Government publishes data on personal income tax, which is publicly available on www.data.gov.sg. This includes data on the number of Course Fees Relief claimants and the amount of the relief granted. The member may refer to the website to access the data for the first three questions.
On the last question, the average amount of individual income tax foregone from Course Fees Relief was around $13 million per year over the Years of Assessment 2020 to 2024.
