Assessing Veracity of Former Indonesian Minister's Claims and Remedial Responses Considered

To ask the Prime Minister and Minister for Finance with reference to a social media post published by a former Indonesian minister on 20 October 2026 (a) what is the Government’s assessment of the claims’ veracity; and (b) what are the remedial responses being considered.

Parliamentary Reply by Second Minister for Finance, Mr Jeffrey Siow:

There have been allegations that GIC and Temasek pressured MSCI to consider downgrading the market classification of the Indonesian Stock Exchange. These allegations are baseless and false. GIC and Temasek have publicly refuted them, and have made clear that they have never sought to influence the assessment of MSCI, an independent index provider.
