A budget of $10.58 billion has been allocated to MINDEF in FY2007 to achieve the following outcomes:

• Singaporeans continue to enjoy a peaceful and secure environment.
  
  
• Singapore continues to have unimpeded access to its air and sea lines of communication.
• MINDEF and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) maintain good defence relations with a network of both regional and extra-regional friendly forces.
  
  
• The SAF maintain a high state of operational readiness to respond to any conventional or non-conventional threat to Singapore’s security.
• NSmen can be quickly mobilised to carry out their missions.
• The SAF equip its servicemen with the necessary skills and knowledge to leverage on technologically advanced weapons and operational doctrines of modern warfare.
