The mission of MFA is to advance and safeguard the interests of Singapore and Singaporeans through effective diplomacy. A total budget of $334 million has been allocated to MFA in FY2005 to achieve this mission, and for the following:

 

The Singapore Cooperation Programme (SCP) is the flagship foreign technical assistance programme that trains 5,000 participants yearly from over 107 developing countries in Singapore (including 293 undergraduate scholarships to recipients from ASEAN countries under the Singapore Scholarship Scheme and the Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI) Centres in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam). SCP provides foreign technical assistance programmes directly or jointly with Third Country Training partners such as Japan, Australia and Norway and International Organisations like World Bank, IMF, ADB and Commonwealth Secretariat.

 

Contributions to the United Nations, ASEAN, Commonwealth and other International Organisations.
