First, we will provide more
help for low-income families. We will do so
by expanding the Utilities-Save scheme. We
have already given Utilities-Save rebates
to households in this year's Budget. The Government
will now give a further once-off rebate of
$200 for those living in 1- or 2-room HDB
flats, $100 for those in 3-room HDB flats,
$50 for those in 4-room flats, and $30 for
those in 5-room flats. The rebates for the
1-, 2- and 3-room flats will be given in December
2003 and Feb 2004, while the rebates for the
4- and 5-room flats will be given in December
2003. These rebates will cost $54 million.
