The mission of MND is to create the best physical
and living environment for building a robust economy,
a vibrant city, and cohesive communities. A total
budget of $2,535m has been allocated to MND in
FY2003 to achieve this mission.
MND will provide quality and affordable public
housing as well as rejuvenate older HDB estates
so that residents can enjoy improved living conditions.
To provide optimal greenery, parks and recreational
space for the public, MND will maintain the Garden
City environment, develop new parks and park connectors,
and redevelop existing parks.
The capabilities of the Agri-Food and Veterinary
Authority will be strengthened to ensure the safety
of Singapore's food supply. The Building and Construction
Authority will ensure that Singapore's buildings
are designed, constructed and maintained to a
high standard of safety and will promote the development
of the construction industry.
