FY2001 Expenditure Highlights

Government Administration Sector

The budget for the government administration sector, at $1.4 billion, takes up the smallest share (5%) of total government expenditure. The key expenditure items for this sector are:

eGovernment

     
 
  • $7.2 million to the Government Chief Information Office to plan civil service wide computerisation programmes
     
  • $28 million for the delivery of electronic public services
     
  • $2.2 million to the Registry of Companies and Businesses to computerise the registration of companies and businesses
     
  • $2.4 million for the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore to computerise the patent administration system
     

    Land Administration

         
     
  • $71 million to the Land Office for the administration and maintenance of State Land, management of State properties and the formulation, review and implementation of land policies that optimise land use and returns
     

    Legal Aid

         
     
  • $6.4 million for the Legal Aid Bureau to provide legal aid, assistance and advice to persons of limited means
     

    Public Sector Training

         
     
  • $37 million for scholarships and training awards
     
  • $12 million for the Training and Development Programme to support the achievement of civil service values, ideals and goals
     
  • $12 million to develop the Civil Service College, which will centralise all the various training institutes and public sector think-tank agencies
