| To provide further help to tide
over the present difficulties, Government will give
a special rebate to Singaporeans living in HDB flats
through town councils. The town councils will offer
a one-off additional monthly rebate for citizen households
living in 1 to 5-room flats for a period of one year,
starting from 1 April 1999. The special rebates, which
are about 10 per cent of current gross S&C charges,
are as follows: $2 per month for 1-room flats, $3 per
month for 2-room flats, $4 per month for 3-room flats,
$5 per month for 4-room flats and $6 per month for 5-room
flats. These rebates will cost Government $40 million.
