THE TREASURY
Several Central Ministries, namely Public Service Division
of the Prime Minister's Office, Ministries of Finance,
Law and Trade & Industry and their departments are located
at The Treasury, 100 High Street.
The Treasury is sited on a 0.6 hectare plot next to
Funan Centre, fronting High Street and about 500m away
from the City Hall MRT Station. The building is 11 storeys
high with close to 22,500 sq. m of usable floor area.
Situated in the heart of the Civic and Cultural District,
the building is part of the civic district of government
offices stretching from the Padang to the foot of Fort
Canning Hill.
The building is designed by former PWD. It retains
the stateliness of an old building and yet captures
the contemporary image of modern buildings. The entrance
and concourse give the building a civic character. The
lower floors of the building have tall granite-clad
columns reflecting the proportions of those at City
Hall while the higher floors of the building are cladded
with a glass and aluminium curtain wall. Two tall round
cores mark the entrance and provide a feeling of solidarity.
A key feature of the building is its shared facilities,
to optimise the use of resources. The facilities include
a 170-seat Auditorium and several Conference Rooms;
a Fitness Room and a multi-purpose Function Room. There
is also a roof-top garden. A restaurant and a shop are
located at the ground level.
The Treasury caters to the requirements of a modern
office, with intelligent features incorporated in the
lift system, building energy management system, office
automation system and security system. Smart cards are
used for purposes such as office access.
